Established in terms of The Prevention for and Treatment of Substance Abuse Act 2008 (Act No.70 of 2008) the Central Drug Authority  is an advisory authority with a mandate to plan, coordinate, oversee, monitor and evaluate the implementation of the National Drug Master Plan (NDMP)

The NDMP 2019-2024 recognises that the relationship between drug control and human development is complex and requires a coordinated and multi-sectoral approach

Who are we

About Us

The Central Drug Authority consists of government department representatives who are at least of a rank of a director or equivalent and civil society members with knowledge or experience in the management of the demand and supply of substances or who are able to make a substantial contribution to the combating of substance abuse.

Impact Your Communities

PSAF’s are appointed by MEC’s of provinces to strengthen provincial member organisations to carry out functions related directly or indirectly to addressing the problem of substance abuse.

 

PSAF’s can be contacted for information on Local Drug Action Committees in their province.
